Master Software Engineer

The Master Software Engineer, as part of the customer implementation team, assists managers and other team members in the technical engineering aspects of customer implementation. Other responsibilities include mentoring and providing technical guidance for other engineers, and providing process improvement recommendations to the services organization. This position represents the highest technical level of engineering that is not directly responsible for a project.

• Assist projects in need of short term very skilled engineering.
• Provide assistance in designing and implementing complex solutions.
• Meet with the customer and understand their business requirements; to produce system documentation showing how their business requirements will be met.
• Customize the Red Prairie application software written in the C, PL/SQL, Visual Basic and/or Uniface languages and using the Oracle relational database or SQL Server relational database to match any changes required by the customer.
• Assume primary design/coding/testing responsibility for one or more functional subsets of system software.
• Assume primary customer contact/support role for one or more functional subsets of system software during project implementation
• Have task assignment or task management responsibilities and delegation authority.
• Assist Project Leader in defining functional analysis, business scenarios, gaps and business volumes, programming techniques, software development and testing of software.
• Assist Project Leader and customer personnel with integration testing, debugging and installation of application and systems software.
• Assist Project Leader in coordinating application installation and upgrade with multiple live sites.
• Develop programs in accordance with current programming standards.
• Assist software engineers with appropriate techniques required to fulfill project assignments.
• Lead small teams in assignments, as directed.
• Develop automated tools and standard procedures for application installation.
• Develop utilities, procedures, and documentation upon customer requirements for network security.
• Maintain application release control.
• Perform application installation and upgrade, including third party integration and hardware configuration.
• Perform system administration for multiple training sites.
• Perform installation and integration of data access tools such as SQL*net and SQR into database environments.
• Perform database sizing for multiple live sites and audit of database capacity to provide satisfactory performance.
• After installation, provide support and warranty services to customer.
• Train customer’s warehouse personnel on how to use PC’s, radio frequency terminal screens and reports generated by the application software.

Requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, MIS or related field, or equivalent experience in a technology-related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in software solutions and life cycle.
• Significant knowledge (depth/breadth) of RP applications.
• At least 3 years of software development experience with C++ , relational databases, web tools, client-server graphical user interface, and PL/SQL.
• Excellent problem solving skills, particularly with regard to anticipating and solving problems, issues, or concerns before they occur or become critical.
• Strong written, verbal and non-verbal communication skills with internal and external customers.
• Able to work effectively both alone and in team/cooperative development efforts.
• Able to learn supply chain concepts and progress in technical and general business skills.
• Ability to travel up to 50% of the time, annually.
