POSITION SUMMARY
The role of the Business Intelligence Developer is to design, develop and maintain BBI's Business Intelligence Applications (which can include complex reports, interactive dashboards, OLAP and Data Mining Analytics) by providing technical solutions in support of business objectives and ongoing operations. Must be able to utilize and effectively communicate technical components of an initiative to applicable parties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
The Business Intelligence Developer will be responsible for the design, development and maintenance activities of the business intelligence applications for BBI's enterprise data warehouse environment. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Collaborate with business users to capture & define business requirements and then contribute to designing and defining the appropriate data warehouse BI solution, which includes prototyping/demonstrating BI solutions * Design, develop and implement BI metadata/logical data models * Design, develop and implement complex BI user interface objects (e.g. reports, analytics, ad-hoc queries, dashboards etc.) * Determine whether measure calculations and processing should be done in ETL or metadata * Determine requirements for aggregate tables * Design and support BI security model * Develop technical design documents and BI specifications that incorporate BI development standards & best practices * Provide day to day production support of data warehouse BI environment * Troubleshoot performance issues of a BI environment and evaluate existing logic for tuning possibilities * Server as a mentor to power users that create and develop ad-hoc queries and reports; facilitate user group sessions on various technical/non-technical BI topics * Provide production support for existing BI applications, which includes communicating with business users on their technical and non-technical questions/problems and work on new BI development initiatives simultaneously
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS * Experience designing, developing and supporting Business Intelligence solutions both custom BI applications as well as 3rdparty pre-built BI analytical solutions * Strong technical knowledge of BI admin/metadata tools, security, user interface designs, development and deployment of dashboards, analytics and performance management reports * Ability to design logical and multi-dimensional data models * Ability to design and develop BI Metadata Repository and identify areas of optimization * Ability to design, build, deploy and support end to end BI solutions * Advanced knowledge of data warehouse development and maintenance lifecycle and methodology * Experience with CA Erwin data modeling tool is preferred * Strong PL/SQL and SQL development and performance tuning skills * Experience with Oracle DBMS preferably Oracle 10g/11g * Experience working in a Unix/Linux environment * Experience with SAP R/3 or ECC and BW * Experience with SAP BPC is a plus * Food Service or Retail Industry experience a plus
