IT Risk Management Intern

Title: IT Risk Management Intern

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
* Works with the Family Dollar's business units and with other risk functions to identify security requirements, using methods that may include risk and business impact assessments
* Help perform control and vulnerability assessments to identify control weaknesses and assess the effectiveness of existing controls, and recommends remedial action
* Plays an advisory role in application development or acquisition projects, to assess security requirements and controls and ensure that security controls are implemented as planned
* Assists in the development of security architecture and security policies, principles and standards
* Help develop security processes and procedures and supporting service-level agreements (SLAs) to ensure that security controls are managed and maintained
* Assists with the resolution of negative audit findings reported by Family Dollar''s internal or external auditors
* Researches, evaluates, designs, tests, recommends and plans the implementation of new or updated information security technologies
* Researches and assesses new threats and security alerts and recommends remedial action
* Addresses security questions as they relate to security tools/applications implemented by Family Dollar.
* Updates annual security awareness training with new IT threats and security relevant issues.
Minimum Requirements:

Educational Qualifications: IT Security or IT Risk Management experience/education. Working towards bachelor''s degree in business, information systems or computer science.

Technical Competency: Knowledge and understanding of information risk concepts and principles, as a means of relating business needs to security controls. Knowledge of the fundamentals of project management, and experience in creating and managing project plans, including budgeting and resource allocation. Knowledge of risk assessment methods and technologies. Proficiency in performing risk, business impact, control and vulnerability assessments.

Occupational Personality: Strong analytical skills, to analyze security requirements and relate them to appropriate security controls. Ability to interact with Family Dollar personnel at all levels and across all business units and organizations, and to understand business imperatives. Strong written and verbal communication skills. A strong customer/client focus, with the ability to manage expectations appropriately, provide a superior customer/client experience and build long-term relationships
