Summary:

Reporting to the Regional Director, the District General Manager is an experienced, strategic leader with proven multi-unit management experience. Participates on a team and provides overall planning, direction, evaluation and control to assigned food service units to achieve operations and financial goals. Provides guidance and motivation to Foodservice Directors, General/Resident Managers, District Managers, Culinary Personnel as well as other Managers and associates. Establishes and maintains effective customer/client rapport.

SupervisoryResponsibilities:


This individual provides direct supervision of the External Brand Program through a direct report, the Vendor Manager, including overseeing contracts and contract compliance; a District Manager I; as well as 10-20 Dining Unit Management teams and several hundred subordinate associates, with responsibility for greater than $25 million managed volume. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization''s policies and applicable laws.

Essential Duties andResponsibilities:

Interprets and ensures compliance with policies, procedures and guidelines to promote their consistent application.

Conducts operation audits of district units and designs improvements to optimize financial performance and operational productivity.

Audits units to ensure conformance with the Company, government and accrediting agency standards, regulations and codes regarding food storage, preparation, sanitation and record keeping.

Ensures adherence to company sponsored retailing and purchasing programs.

Develops and monitors realistic and accurate district forecasts. Ensures units'' financial performance meets Company and client forecasts.

Establishes and maintains effective client relationship. Identifies client''s needs, communicates unit progress, operations problems and new Company programs to client.

Establishes and maintains effective customer relationships, including service recovery as well as future service deliverables.

Interprets financial reports for client. Ensures client is aware of current applicable government regulations. Documents business content of client meetings.

Conducts, monitors, and supports action planning in response to customer, client and associate satisfaction surveys.

Observe typical meal service when visiting units. Evaluates food for taste, temperature, appearance and portion size. Investigates complaints regarding unit operation and effects satisfactory solutions.

Participates in the sales process by working the pre-proposal study teams, aiding in presentations, preparing opening team schedules and coordinating/leading opening teams. Conducts client negotiations and renegotiate unit contracts. Coordinates documentation of contract changes.

Ensures consistent and equitable administration of human resource policies, procedures and guidelines to facilitate effective employee relations and support the preferred employer focus. Audits performance appraisals and associate files. Monitors affirmative action plans.

Recruits for management positions. Identifies district training requirements. Develops and coaches management associates to meet staffing and succession planning needs, as well as to ensure optimum utilization of district associates.

Interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Plans and conducts district meetings, making full use of support staff as needed.

Establishes and maintains effective community relations. Participates in professional and civic activities. Makes appropriate public appearances.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will:

Be well versed in all aspects of foodservice management, with a proven track record of success.

Possess strong strategic thinking skills, with an emphasis on delivering and measuring action plans.

Be proactive and positive; interact professionally with a diverse group of associates, peers, managers, suppliers, clients and customers.

Embrace excellence in customer service both for internal and external customers; have excellent verbal and written communication and customer service skills.

Demonstrate initiative and good judgment in assisting customers, clients, peers and subordinates.

Have the ability to think quickly and accurately, be able to evaluate problems and make appropriate recommendations to person(s) involved.

Have the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects/events

Have a high level of resilience during stressful periods and the ability to handle last minute changes.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor''s degree from a four year college or university;

Fifteen years of management experience in positions of increasing responsibility, preferably in foodservice or a related field;

Ten years of multi-unit operations management experience is required, preferably in foodservice or a related field;

Demonstrated profit and loss management ability of at least $25M managed volume;

Experience as direct client interface is required;

Excellent computer skills, including advanced spreadsheet and proficiency at learning software.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

ServSafe, member of a local and/or national food service/culinary association(s). Current driver''s license.

Language Skills:

Ability to speak, read, and write English at an advanced level for effective communication in e-mail, written documents and customer interaction. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Second language beneficial.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages. Able to perform intermediate functions accurately on calculator and in spreadsheets. Sound mathematical reasoning skills, ability to efficiently base decisions on numerical data and communicate this data in easily understood formats.

Reasoning Ability:

Superior organizational and interpersonal skills; ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to handle last minute changes; think quickly and accurately; be solution oriented and analytical with ability to provide strategic action plans.

Self-motivated, team oriented, positive attitude in corporate environment, ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks/projects, work effectively and efficiently with high quality assurance and success measurements. A successful candidate will be adaptable, flexible and possess desire to learn and passion to succeed. Able to travel overnight as needed.
