Position Summary: Responsible to perform a variety of moderate to complex general accounting responsibilities, including journal entries and account reconciliations, in accordance with GAAP, to provide accurate and useful information for management review. Participates in the decision making process by completing analysis and making recommendations to management based on findings. Minimum Requirements: § Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or other related field or equivalent experience. § Two (2) years Accountant experience required. Essential Duties: * Responsible for general ledger maintenance to include: journal entries and accruals, account analysis and reconciliation, requesting set up of new accounts and assisting with accounting close process in a timely and accurate manner, and maintaining related records. Researches and resolves any issues that arise. * Prepares financial statements to include the monthly balance sheet and income statement; provides analysis and explanations of accounts, and reports on changes in financial position/budget variances. Assists with audits and provides additional support to the finance function (i.e., board and/or period reporting) as requested. * Reviews and analyzes assigned operating budgets, and researches and explains variances; makes recommendation to management based on findings. Assists in the preparation of budgets used in measuring, planning, and controlling business operations and provides for management review. * Consults and/or educates associates and management on financial statements and reports; provides analysis and research to assist with identifying and resolving business issues. * May review work of accounting clerks or entry level accountants engaged in general accounting activities. * Provides timely customer service and respond to inquires and questions from internal (various functional groups) and external contacts (i.e., auditors, vendors, etc.).
Responsible for the maintenance and reconciliation of asset and liability accounts; prepares and enters journal entries, related accruals and balances sheet reconciliations for inventory and distribution center accounting functions. Partners with internal contacts in the distribution center to research and resolve issues with reconciliations. Knowledge / Additional Skills / Aptitude: Strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong organization and analytical skills; attention to detail and ability to multi-task and prioritize. Working knowledge and understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Proficient in MS Office (Access, Excel, Word).
