We are all aware of the typical tips and tricks for keeping employees motivated - flexible working hours and quarterly bonuses. While these are effective motivators for workers, there are many other things that can keep them engaged. As an employer, you shouldn't forget that one of the most effective ways to engage staff is to really inspire them with what you do. When your staff feels inspired, they will be not only motivated in the workplace, but they will also be concerned about the values of the company. As a result, there will be a deeper sense of trust and understanding between you and your employees.

So how are you going to keep your staff inspired? Here are some tips:

It is not a good idea to impose fear.

If you are causing your employees to feel uncomfortable and somehow fearful in the workplace, there is certainly something you are doing wrong. Imposing fear among employees is a strategy used by bad bosses. Ineffective leaders opt to pit employees against one another, use rewards, and even threaten firing people as ways to boost productivity. These methods might work in the short term, but are more likely to cause employees to lose loyalty to their employer and the organization itself.

Give your employees room for growth.

Another way to keep employees inspired is offer the opportunities for training and professional growth. As a leader, you need to acknowledge the fact that there should be no end to learning. Thus, no matter what role an employee has in the organization, he or she still deserves to be given an opportunity to develop and grow. Allow your people to be trained by experts and provide them with the necessary tools and resources that they can use for their development.

Get everyone involved in brainstorming.

When there is a project that has to be completed, make sure that you ask your employees for their ideas or thoughts about it. Keep in mind that there is always something you can learn from everybody no matter what their roles are in the company. By allowing them to share their thoughts, you are also boosting their confidence, and you are giving them enough reasons to work harder and better.

Foster optimism.

Nothing can be more contagious than a warm smile. By spreading positivity at work, you can make the workplace happier and lighter, and you can also inspire your employees. With a positive and friendly work environment, your employees will surely be more productive and efficient in their jobs.

Always show gratitude.

We all love the feeling of being appreciated and recognized. A good leader never forgets to give credit where it is due. A simple pat on the back for a job well done can make a huge difference in the way your employees look at their work and the workplace.

Organize team building activities.

In order for your employees to always have good reasons to go to work, you need to find ways to enhance their relationships with one another. By organizing team building activities every once in a while, you are giving your staff the chance to know each other better, and perhaps build positive relationships with one another.

Team building and appreciation are great ways to show your employees that you really care about them.  Treating employees with dignity and respect will go a long way to creating a harmonious and happy workplace.
