    The Senior Engineering Buyer will support Engineering and Manufacturing requirements for the procurement of key electronic and mechanical components and materials. Support Engineering, Project Management, and Sales organizations’ material cost and availability needs for the preparation of new business bids.

    Major Areas of Accountability:

    • Collaborate with Engineering and Project Management teams to identify and manage procurement of key pre-production materials.
    • Monitor supplier performance and manage required expediting and exception resolution efforts. Routinely provide timely and comprehensive status communications to stakeholders.
    • Provide comprehensive material cost and availability intelligence to customer-facing teammates in support of the generation of customer quotations and project proposals.
    • Provide material management support to stakeholders in both internal and customer-facing project reviews.
    • Collaborate with Engineering and Project Management teams to assure that material and supplier selections are consistent with strategic surety of supply and cost needs.
    • Identify and on-board new suppliers as necessary to achieve service level, cost, and quality requirements for purchased materials and services.

    Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree in an applicable business management or technical discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Five or more years purchasing electronic and mechanical components in an electro-mechanical product development and manufacturing setting.
    • Previous experience in “enhanced reliability” environments (aerospace, avionics, defense, medical technology, etc.) preferred.
    • APICS and/or CPM certification desired.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

    • Previous experience with ERP-driven, web-enabled purchasing processes is essential.
    • Highly fluent in one or more mainstream ERP systems (e.g. Epicor, IFS, Microsoft Dynamics, Oracle, Sage, SAP)
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Strong customer service orientation supported by solid communication, relationship building, and negotiating skills.
    • Requires a proactive nature, sustained sense of urgency, and robust multi-tasking aptitude.
    • Good organizational skills supported by great attention to detail.

    Physical Requirements (these physical requirements must be performed with or without accommodation):

    • Majority of worktime is spent in typical office settings and in manufacturing areas which may entail exposure to environmental attributes common to electronic and electro-mechanical assembly and testing operations
    • Considerable personal computer usage
    • Ability to sit for extended periods, bend, reach, stoop, and twist as required
    • Ability to lift and carry up to 20lbs
